Planning permission awarded for contemporary fractal roof extension 16th Jun 2016

We have achieved planning permission for a residential redevelopment featuring a contemporary fractal roof extension above a historical Grade II Listed building.

The project was presented to and approved by the Westminster Planning Committee on the 14th June.

The roof extension provides dynamic living spaces to two luxury duplex apartments, with exceptional views across Green Park and Shepherd Market. The unique faceted form has been developed to respond to the surrounding context through the articulation of existing horizontal roof lines and the use of appropriate materials - slate below and traditional lead cladding above.

The roof’s uppermost section is expressed in a diagonal arrangement of joints which is inspired by the herring bone pattern used traditionally on church spires.

The project, which was collaboratively taken over from Hawkins Brown, includes a retail unit on the corner of the site along with decorative metal artwork residential doors and gates along White Horse Street to both enliven and engage the street frontage.

The scheme will deliver a total of 36 residential apartments, including 28 new apartments, designed to an extremely high quality specification as befits the location and will have access to in-house residents’ concierge, leisure and exercise facilities. The existing car lift and basement level parking for 8 cars is to be retained and an additional car lift and car stacker will be introduced for 31 additional parking spaces.
