Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

A fantastic bake sale to raise money for the Architects Benevolent Society

People are at the heart of everything we do and we take the wellbeing of our team very seriously. We aim to support everyone throughout the year, but for this year’s ‘mental health awareness week’ we were treated to an array of extra-special activities (and delicious treats). Our HR Coordinator, Eleanore Smith, recounts a wonderful week of celebrating and supporting mental wellbeing and self care.

‘We've had a fantastic week at Studio PDP. We came together to raise awareness, support each other and enjoy some truly delightful activities, all whilst fundraising for and supporting the Architects Benevolent Society. Here's a look back at all the amazing activities we got up to this week:

Salad lunch bar - eating well is part of feeling well, so sharing a delicious healthy meal was a way for us to celebrate the positive choices we can make for our bodies and minds.

Personal and Leadership Perspective Training - knowledge is power! The mental health session provided by the Architects Benevolent Society helped us gain valuable insight and tools to support our mental wellbeing and that of others.

Tea and cake - there is nothing quite like bonding over a delicious slice of homemade brownie with some heartfelt conversations

Gong bath - what a treat! Our gong bath session provided by GONG Meditation & Wellness was an oasis of tranquillity. The soothing vibrations washed over us, helping release stress and bringing a deep sense of peace (which may have resulted in a short nap for some!). It was a unique experience that left us all refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead.

Crochet workshop - a great introduction to crocheting, which is not just a craft, but a mindful activity that can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.

Hyde Park ‘Talkie Walkies’ – it can all start with a chat. We’re very lucky to have Hyde Park within walking distance of our London studio, allowing us to get out for a stroll during lunch to soak up some vitamin D, as well as catch up and unwind with colleagues outside of the office.

We rounded the week out by taking part in the ABS Chicken Run on Saturday (a special mention to the ‘best dressed runner’ Clive Seymour!) and, finally, a practice walk for our Welsh 3000s challenge on the Sunday. What a week!

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this week so special. Let's continue to support each other and prioritise our mental health every day.

Our chosen charity this year is the Architects Benevolent Society (ABS), a charity close to our hearts. The ABS provides essential support to past and present members of the architectural community – and their families – who are in need. They can provide a range of services including confidential advice, mental health and wellbeing support and financial assistance to people who are experiencing challenges such as illness, accident, unemployment or other personal difficulties. The ABS makes a significant difference in the lives of our colleagues.
