A peaceful life in the heart of London is now a reality, thanks to an innovative new development of homes on the edge of Regent’s Park.

For all the wonders of London’s Marylebone, private access to the simple joys of nature is not one of them, but that’s changing for an elite few homes, tucked discreetly away off Park Crescent.

Regent’s Crescent is a new Grade I listed building, originally designed by John Nash for King George IV in 1820. Previously bombed in the blitz, it’s now been fully reimagined and upgraded into 67 new apartments – but the developer’s ambitions didn’t end there.

Nine Garden Villas, each with two or three bedrooms across three floors, are set in Regent’s Crescent’s one and a half acres of private landscaped gardens, redefining the classic London mews house by swapping cosy, low-ceilinged Victoriana for spacious luxury.

Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows maximise the exceptional views across gardens designed by leading landscape architects Bowles & Wyer. Inspiration was taken from the neighbouring eight acres of private Park Crescent and Park Square gardens, to which owners at Regent’s Crescent have privileged access.

The western villas look out across a private courtyard, which falls away in a series of grass terraces to the rear façade of Nash’s buildings, while the eastern villas overlook a garden with a curved water feature and benches. Tree ferns, sweet box and evergreen ferns enhance the sense of calm and privacy in the midst of the city bustle.

The interiors at Regent’s Crescent have been created by award-winning design house, Millier, while leading interior architects 1508 London have established a design concept for the Garden Villas that embodies the modern take on Regency splendour seen throughout the rest of the crescent.

“When imagining how the interiors at the Garden Villas could be brought to life, we wanted to pay homage to the site’s architectural history and Regency heritage while injecting a sense of playfulness and vibrancy to the spaces,” says Leo Bertacchini, 1508’s design director. “We’re celebrating the more contemporary aesthetic of the villas and their strong connection to the outside landscape.”

The garden villas were built with a focus on craftsmanship and luxury materials, with warm, vibrant hues in living spaces and a calming palette in the bedrooms.

Owners also can access the world-class on-site amenities found in the crescent’s lower ground floor, which include a 20-metre swimming pool, spa, sauna and steam room, private cinema, valet-operated underground parking and business centre and a 24-hour concierge. This is all within strolling distance of London’s best shopping, dining and schools.

It’s all part of what the expert team behind the development call “Hotel living at home”, a concept that, alongside “Garden living in the city”, has been made into a reality with the unveiling of the Garden Villas at Regent’s Crescent.
