The Low Line Commons – Creating Places For People

This week sees the launch of the London Festival of Architecture. We’ve enjoyed being able to get out of our home offices to join with Macfarlane and Associates to show people some of the exciting urban greening initiatives planned along the Low Line.

Weaving through London Bridge and Southwark, the Low Line Commons’ urban design narrative very much has local community and nature at its heart. The project has been undertaken with Better Bankside on behalf of the Low Line Steering Group and with the support of Lund Trust, charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin. A multi-disciplinary consultant team includes Macfarlane and Associates, Greengage and Studio 4215.

For those who were unable to make the physical tour, there is a digital walking tour here, together with a downloadable map (also below), presentation and a short pre-recorded panel discussion with the design team, which outlines the core ideas and challenges faced through the design and implementation.

A few images from this week’s tour can be seen below - with many thanks to Macfarlane and Associates for organising and hosting.
