WPA reception: Transformation of the Strand

On 19 September, the WPA welcomed 150 members and stakeholders to an evening reception at our recently completed Eighty Strand project for Strandbrook, to hear about the Council's vision for the Strand Aldwych area.

Cllr Geoff Barraclough, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development, provided a keynote address and expressed confidence in the area's renewal with the support of private sector investment.

WPA Board member Michelle McGrath (Executive Director, Capco) introduced proceedings, and our Partner Andrew Davidson gave a speech introducing the refurbishment work and complementary additions that we, together with architect Duncan Mitchell and the wider team, have delivered to transform Eighty Strand. Ruth Duston OBE (Chief Executive, Northbank BID) spoke about how Northbank BID is helping to lead provision of the ambitious £28 million renewal of the area.

We were proud to have sponsored this great event, alongside project team members Civic Engineers, chapmanbdsp, MGAC/RLF and Sir Robert McAlpine Special Projects. We’d like to thank the WPA and the building management team at Eighty Strand for their incredible organisation of this event. A big thank you also to our architectural team members Luke Richardson-Brown, Cian Scanlon, Kin Kay Lee and Anastasia Whitehead who took guests on tours of the building, which we hope everyone enjoyed!

You can see some photos from the evening reception, together with additional information about the topics covered, over on the WPA website.
